These systems travel within a dedicated enclosed path and can integrate cleanly into new construction or substantial remodels. They can be a strong choice when the project can accommodate the required shaft, landings, equipment, and structural coordination.
Shaftless and compact approaches
Some residential systems are designed to reduce the amount of traditional hoistway construction. The tradeoff is that their travel, cab size, placement, or other design characteristics may differ from a conventional layout. Product-specific requirements matter.

Residential elevator designs can use different drive technologies and enclosure concepts. Rather than choosing by mechanism alone, compare the full installation requirements, rider needs, service expectations, and fit with the house.
